ISBN 0142401927

Genre: Picture Book

Summary

This is a collection of funny, irreverant, and sometimes gross poems. Included is a poetic ode to boogers, poems about stinky diapers and sibling rivalry, and a complaint letter to the Tooth Fairy.

Instructional Activities

• After reading "A Letter to the Tooth Fairy", students will write complaint letters to the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and the Boogey Man. Encourage them to be creative with the reasons for their complaints.

• Have students match rhyming words from two columns. Ensure that students understand what rhyming words look and sound like.

• After finishing the book, let students write their own poems on their own topics. Provide a list of possible topics if they have trouble deciding.

• Break the class into groups. Have each group choose a poem to make a video. Each group will choose a poem, videotape the action of the poem, record a voiceover of the text of the poem.

• Writing prompt: What was your favorite poem in the book? Why?
